How Do I Start AdSense? Step-By-Step Guide On How To Make An Account

12/16/2022 08:12:11 +0000
Google AdSense is one of the most popular ways to monetize a website.

It allows publishers to display ads on their site without having to pay upfront fees. Instead, Google takes care of everything.

Publishers simply add code to their webpages and let Google do the rest.
If you want to start earning revenue from your website, there are three several steps to take.

First, you'll need a Google account. Then, you'll need to install the Google Ads application. Finally, you'll need to set up your ad unit.
How It Works
AdSense is one of the most popular advertising platforms used by bloggers and online publishers.

It allows advertisers to place text, image, video, or code ads on webpages.

Publishers receive revenue whenever someone clicks on those ads.
The process behind it is called an "ad auction."

An advertiser sets a maximum bid price for each ad unit, meaning how many times he wants his advertisement to show up on a webpage.

This number determines how much he will pay per impression.
Google automatically connects advertisers with publishers whose audience matches the target market for the advertisement.

If there are multiple advertisers bidding on the same ad space, the highest bidder wins.

In this way, the advertiser pays less while still receiving high visibility. As a publisher, you can choose whether to accept the offer.

You can also set a minimum bid amount, which helps ensure that you don't lose out on potential income.

Let's look at the steps in a bit more detail.
Step 1: Set Up Site
Before you start building your website, you need to set it up properly. This includes selecting a domain name, installing WordPress, and setting up email accounts.

Once you've done all that, you'll want to make sure that you have some sort of hosting plan.

There are many types of hosting plans, each offering varying levels of security and functionality.
Step 2: Check Site Is Compliant
Google doesn't just take any website into its AdSense for Content program. You must meet its eligibility requirements to be accepted.

This means that you should have an easy-to-use interface. Your elements should line up properly.

Your text should be easy to read, and everything else should function properly.

Google has a responsibility for its advertisers. Advertisers don't always know which sites they're advertising on, so it's Google's responsibility to review your site's contents before you get approved.
Step 3: Apply
Now that your website is up, you're ready to begin applying to AdSense.

You'll want to head over to the Google AdSense site, where you'll find the "Sign Up Now" button. Clicking it will take you to the next step in the process.
Step 4: Configuring Ads
You now need to decide which type of ads you want to display on your website.
On the left side, under the content section, look for the Ad Units option.

When you select it, you'll see an additional drop-down list with different ad units available.

Here you'll choose things like the ad types, sizes, styles, and everything else related to the ads that advertisers will be placing.

It's always better to use a size that's recommended by Google. There are a wide variety of sizes available, but Google recommends some of the most common ones for ads.
Step 5: Use AdSense Code
After you've finished setting up your ad units, it's time to start adding some text.

You'll want to make sure that there are no errors in the code, because Google won't let you run the ads without fixing those issues first.

To check whether everything looks good, scroll down to the bottom of the screen, where you see "Save and Get Code." Click on that link and Google will show you a code box.

Copy and paste that code into the HTML section of your website. This allows you to display the ads on your site.

If you're using WordPress, you can use widgets to quickly place the code on your site.

Go to the administration area of your site and select appearance. Then, go to widgets. Scroll down to the bottom of that list and click on Add New Widget.

Select the Text widget and enter the code that Google gave you. Finally, save the changes, and you're ready to start earning money!
Step 6: Update Privacy Details
Google recently updated its guidelines for how websites must disclose information about themselves to users.

If you use AdSense, you'll want to make sure that you've got a privacy policy up and running.

You don't necessarily need one, but it's good practice to have one anyway.

The update includes several steps that help ensure that you're providing enough information about yourself to comply with the law.

For example, you'll need to provide contact info such as an address, phone number, email address, and physical location.

You'll also need to tell people where you store their data, what kinds of cookies are used, whether third parties collect data, and what types of advertising you do.
Step 7: Verifying Address
Once you've generated some money from Google AdSense, it's time to take control of your earnings.

You'll receive a card in the mail that includes a unique pin and an email address where you can verify your identity.

Before you can withdraw your earnings, though, you'll need to ensure your address has been verified by following the steps outlined on the card itself.

Once complete, you'll be ready to cash out whenever your balance reaches $25.
Find Best Placement
Google recommends testing multiple locations across your site for displaying ads.

This includes placing ads above the fold, below the fold, along the sides, and even within posts.

There are specific guidelines for each of those types of placements, including where to place the ad unit itself.

For example, if you're running an ecommerce store, Google suggests putting the ad unit near the checkout button.

If it's a gaming website, you might want to try placing the ad unit next to the game controls.

You can't assume that the best location for your ad is always the first one you select.

You might find that placing your ad in a particular spot increases conversions, while another spot doesn't perform well.

As long as you're testing, you'll know what works best for your audience.
Getting Paid
Website owners get paid based on different bid types for the ads that they display. These are known as bid types and include:

Cost Per Click (CPC): This type of bidding allows advertisers to pay for each click on their ad.
Cost Per Impression (CPI): This type of bidding lets advertisers pay for every impression of their ad.
Active View Cost Per A Thousand Impressions (Active View CPI): This type of bidding offers advertisers a way to pay for every active view of their ad.

The most common form of advertising is called Pay Per Click (PPC). PPC ads are displayed alongside search results on Google and Bing. They are usually shown next to the sponsored link.
Conclusion
AdSense is a great option if you want to make extra money without having to spend hours creating content.

But keep in mind that you won't see any significant earnings right away.

It takes time to build up a large audience and earn decent amounts of money, so be patient! One way to help you build this passive income is to sign up for a course such as "Passive Portfolio" that is focused on helping you build an income.
